Über diese Stelle

1 Scientist (f/m/d) for Designing, Testing and Qualifying Next Generation Aeronautical Batteries * You will support the development of next generation batteries for aeronautical applications, from cell selection, module and pack design, prototype assembly, testing and qualification.
* Depending on your background, you will develop and test:
(a) physics-based AI/ML methods for aeronautical battery design and validation,
(b) numerical methods for battery state and safety prediction, and
(c) high-voltage/high-power or lightweight battery prototypes, including structural and multifunctional energy storage systems.
* You will interface with experienced scientists and engineers in the field of aerospace across Europe.

* You will work closely with European Institutions and international partners from research organisations and industry on multi-annual large-scale collaborative projects.
* You will build your own network, contribute to defining our strategic research direction, and prepare proposals for new projects with the support of your colleagues .
* You will publish your results in high-ranking journals and will support other scientists in doing so.
* You will supervise PhD and master's students.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

* PhD-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline, with a focus on battery design and testing, preferably for high-voltage/high-power aerospace applications.
* Alternatively, an MSc-level qualification combined with relevant professional experience may be accepted.

* A traceable scientific publication record is an essential requirement. Experience publishing in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals is required.
* Proven experience in at least one of the following areas: (i) physics-based AI/ML methods in engineering, (ii) high-voltage/high-power electrical design and testing, (iii) lightweight structural design and testing, or (iv) hybrid-/more-electric systems and aircraft architecture. The cover letter must explain the candidate's fit with at least one profile (i-iv) and support the claimed expertise with relevant publications and project experience. Missing information may result in rejection.

* Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, including Simulink, C/C++, or similar languages are required.
* Knowledge of the fundamentals of battery electrochemistry and understanding of battery modelling methodologies are highly valued.
* Experience with state-of-the-art simulation tools (such as ANSYS, Modelica, or Dymola) are highly valued.
* Experience in battery testing at cell, module, and pack level is considered an advantage.
* Experience in industrial projects and/or European research programmes, such as Horizon Europe or Clean Aviation, including an understanding of the European aerospace research ecosystem, is an asset.
* A high level of motivation to pursue a scientific or research-oriented career is required. Strong self-motivation and personal drive are essential.
* English knowledge appropriate to the job. Knowledge of German is desirable.

What to expect:

* Employee benefits include a canteen allowance, health care support, pension fund, family benefits, additional leave, vouchers, sports and social events, flexible working hours with up to 50% home office, conference support, and individual training and career development opportunities.
* Starting date is expected in Q4-2026/Q1-2027 (flexible). Applications will be accepted until September 30th, 2026, at 12:00 (CET). Early-bird applications are welcome since the selection process can start at an earlier stage.
